How Too Good To Go works

How Too Good To Go works

Are you trying out the Too Good To Go app for the first time or has it been a while? We'll give you an overview of how Too Good To Go works and our philosophy to ensure that food rescue remains a mission that benefits everyone - you, our partner stores and the environment.

Below you will find all the important aspects so that you are ready to go for your first or next surprise bag.

Before pickup

Keep an eye on the time

Yay! You've secured yourself a surprise bag. Please arrive on time at the partner’s store during the specified pick-up time on the app. If you arrive too early, the store often doesn't know what stock is left for the Surprise Bag. If you arrive too late, the store isn't obliged to wait around - after all, the employees want to finish work too.

If the pick-up time is over and you haven’t shown up, the food may have had to be thrown away. So please understand that we cannot refund the purchase price if you arrive late or don't arrive at all to pick up.

Stay up to date

Sometimes it can happen that a store realises at short notice that there is no food left or that the pickup time needs to be changed. To make sure we can inform you of any changes, activate push notifications in the app settings or enter your mobile number to be notified by SMS. Alternatively, you can also check your emails before you set off to pick up.

DURING COLLECTION

Show your reservation voucher

When you arrive at the store, click on your reservation receipt, which you can find in the app (“Click to collect”). To collect your surprise bag(s), show the reservation receipt to an employee and then confirm the collection yourself by “swiping”. Please make sure that the employees can clearly see that you have swiped the receipt.

A screenshot of the reservation receipt or a payment confirmation from the payment provider is not sufficient.

If something comes up

Sometimes things don't go according to plan. That's why you have the option to cancel your order up to two hours before pickup time directly via the order receipt in the app. You will automatically receive a full refund.

After pickup

Food rescue in focus

Our surprise bags are, as the name suggests, a surprise! Our mission is to save food from being wasted. In terms of implementation, this means that our partner stores only pack what has not been sold before closing time or has to go for other reasons. The stores are therefore usually unable to predict the exact contents and it is therefore not in the spirit of our mission that additional products can be selected or exchanged.

You take a look into your surprise bag…

... but what is that! A yogurt is approaching its best-before date or has passed it. What now? The best-before date indicates how long a food can be kept for at least. This does not mean that the food is no longer edible. Use your senses: look, smell and taste and give edible foods a second chance!

Share your experience

You can rate your bag after each pickup via the app. If things don't go as smoothly as you hoped, please contact us directly via the help center in the TGTG app so that we can help you. Unfortunately, reviews of the store that have been submitted on third-party websites do not reach us.

The most important thing at the end

Kindness and appreciation are the key to a positive experience for everyone. Together we are creating an inspiring community where we all feel comfortable and are united by a common vision: a world without food waste. Thank you for your commitment!
