Too Good To Go and Brakes Scotland to tackle food waste togetherToo Good To Go and Brakes Scotland to tackle food waste together
19 November 2020 - Food app with a conscience, Too Good To Go, and Brakes Scotland have launched a new partnership to tackle food waste in the country.
The new relationship will see Brakes Scotland encouraging customers to reduce their food waste through a number of ways, including selling their surplus food through the Too Good To Go app. Too Good To Go has also been included in Brakes Scotland’s recent virtual engagement event, which is open for all foodservice customers until 8th January 2021 and can be found online at: https://www.brake.co.uk/virtual-food-event/brakes-scotland
Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from pubs, restaurants, retailers and producers to stop it from going to waste. Consumers simply download the free Too Good To Go app and search for nearby businesses with unsold produce. They then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and enjoy it.
Paschalis Loucaides, UK Country Manager at Too Good To Go said: “Working with Brakes Scotland is another huge step in the fight against food waste. After an unprecedented year, reducing food waste is one way that all food businesses can play a part in ensuring a green recovery. We’re here to help any food business that finds themselves with surplus produce, and together with Brakes Scotland we’re looking forward to ensuring all food gets eaten and enjoyed instead of wasted.”
Lorna Allison, Marketing Manager for Brakes Scotland said, “Due to the pandemic, we understand that customers need to have a fully flexible menu and need to keep their stock tight when footfall is unpredictable. Using Too Good To Go allows customers to look at another revenue stream rather than simply throwing their waste in the bin – it’s better for the environment but also our customers pockets too.”

ABOUT TOO GOOD TO GO
Too Good To Go has a simple mission: to make sure all food gets eaten, not wasted.
In 2016, a group of entrepreneurs witnessed restaurant staff throwing away fresh food. The food’s only problem? It hadn’t sold in time, and no one was around to take it off the restaurant’s hands. The group pioneered a seamless solution: an app that lists businesses’ unsold food so local diners can find, buy and enjoy it.
Now, thousands of Magic Bags are rescued from businesses such as supermarkets, restaurants, and bakeries every day. The success of the app powers Too Good To Go’s wider efforts to drive a food waste movement, working with schools, industries and governments to build a planet-friendly food system.
